Outline
This two-day course is intended for those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities. It provides supervisors with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, as well as their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. It will highlight the requirement to promote health and safety to supervise effectively.

Who should attend
The SSSTS training course is for those who are considering, or already have, site supervisory responsibilities.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. Delegates must, however, have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
Overview
The course aims to ensure that all those given supervisory responsibilities understand:
- Health and safety law and how it applies to supervisors
- Your supervisory responsibilities in controlling site safely
- Risk assessments and the need for method statements
- Effective site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
- Monitoring site activities effectively
- Timely intervention when bad practice is identified.
Objectives
This is endorsed by the United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) as the standard training for all supervisors working on UKCG sites and provides an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues. It highlights legal responsibilities and the need to promote health and safety to supervise effectively.
Assessment
A short, multiple choice examination on the day.
Certification
Successful delegates receive a nationally-recognised certificate from CITB, which expires after 5 years.
Please note: From 7th December 2020, the CITB are no longer sending out hard copy certificates for candidates. You will, therefore, receive your certificate by email, if you complete and pass the course.
