CITB - SMSTS Site Management Safety Training Scheme Refresher
This course is designed for learners who have completed the CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course and are looking to update and renew their knowledge. It includes a review of the material covered in the original course, as well as providing an update on legislative changes and an introduction to new subjects. CITB funding is available for this course - per person, per day – for ALL registered companies.

Overview
In this two-day course, you will review the topics covered in the original SMSTS course, as well as getting an update on the latest legislative changes and their impact on the workplace.
Aims and Objectives
At the end of the course, delegates will be fully up to date with current health and safety legislation, and able to implement it according to industry best practice.

2 days.
Prerequisites
Please note that each delegate is required to bring with them the following: Photo ID, Date of Birth, National Insurance Number and current CITB card (if applicable).
Learners must hold a valid SMSTS certificate gained within the last five years. Learners are also expected to have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
Who Should Attend
This SMSTS Refresher course is designed for current holders of the SMSTS qualification who wish to renew their qualification, which is required to be renewed every 5 years.
Content
The course focuses on a number of subjects, all designed to bring current SMSTS cardholders up to date on the latest industry developments. It covers:
- The current focus of the Health and Safety Executive’s attention
- Risk assessment and method statements
- Construction Site Health, Safety and Welfare
- Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR)
- Behavioural Safety
- Occupational Health
- Overview and changes to the current legislation affecting construction.
Course Benefits
This course builds on the subjects covered in the original SMSTS course, and gives attendees an up-to-date knowledge of site management safety training legislation. It also allows extension of the SMSTS qualification for a further 5 years.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a new CITB Site Safety Plus certificate.
Please note: From 7th December 2020, the CITB are no longer sending out hard copy certificates for candidates. You will, therefore, receive your certificate by email, if you complete and pass the course.
