CITB - Health & Safety Awareness

This immensely popular course is now required when applying for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Green Card/Labourer Card. It is designed for all those who have entered or are looking to enter the construction and civil engineering.

Overview

The course is designed for all those entering the construction and civil engineering industries, and covers a wide range of issues relating to health and safety on site. It is a requirement when applying for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and is an ideal alternative route to the QCF Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.

Aims and Objectives

This course is designed to ensure that each participant gains understanding of:

  • Why they are carrying out their identified duties
  • What is expected of them
  • How they contribute to the safety of the workplace

Prerequisites

Please note that each delegate is required to bring with them the following: Photo ID, Date of Birth, National Insurance Number and current CITB card (if applicable).

Content

The course covers a number of subjects related to health and safety, including:

  • General responsibilities
  • Accident reporting and recording
  • Health and welfare
  • Respiratory risks (dust and fumes)
  • Manual handling
  • Working at height
  • Personal protective equipment
  • First aid and emergency procedures
  • Fire prevention and control
  • Hazardous substances
  • Electrical safety and hand-held tools and equipment
  • Noise and vibration
  • Site transport safety
  • Excavations
  • Confined spaces
  • Safety signs and signals
  • The day concludes with a multiple-choice examination and course review.

 

Course Benefits

At the end of the day each delegate will be able to understand the need to prevent accidents, as well as the need for risk assessments and method statements. They will be able to identify how their role fits into the control and management of the site and appreciate the need to perform safely, to stop and ask for advice if not sure, and to report unsafe acts to prevent accidents.

Certification

This course is ideal for those wishing to obtain an industry accreditation card. It also acts as an alternative route to the QCF Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment for the CSCS Labourer card.

Please note:  From 7th December 2020, the CITB are no longer sending out hard copy certificates for candidates.  You will, therefore, receive your certificate by email, if you complete and pass the course.

Additional Extras

As part of our offering we can apply for your CSCS Green Labours card for you and post this out to the booker's address.  To take advantage of this  service you must have completed the CITB OPS Touch Screen Test, either at OMS or another Pearson VUE centre. The price for this will be and additional £50+VAT (this includes the cost of purchasing the card).
