Outline
This very popular course is now required when applying for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Green Card (Labourer Card). These new requirements state, that along with the CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Test, a qualification (or alternative) MUST be achieved in order to apply for the Green Card. This course provides an excellent insight into the basics of Health and Safety.

Who should attend
This course is for those who have entered, or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry as a member of the workforce, to help them understand the potential hazards that they face at work on site.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements and this course is suitable for all ability levels. Delegates must, however, have a good understanding of spoken and written English.

The course will include the following subjects:

- Health & Safety Law
- Manual Handling
- How to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident
- Fire Prevention
- Safe performance and asking for advice
- Occupational Health
- Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Working at Height
- Their individual responsibilities for their own safety and the safety of others
- How your role fits into the control and management of the site
- Typical construction hazards and how these are controlled
- The need to prevent accidents
- How everyone can help achieve better practical standards and safety on site
- Legal requirements and liabilities.
Objectives
Course delegates will receive a practical summary of health and safety, welfare and environmental issues identifying individual responsibilities for looking after themselves and others, what the employer’s duties are and what should be done if they think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk. This course is also an alternative route to the QCF Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment for the CSCS Labourer Card.
Assessment
A short, multiple choice examination on the day.
Certification
Successful delegates receive a nationally-recognised certificate from CITB, which expires after 5 years.
Please note: From 7th December 2020, the CITB are no longer sending out hard copy certificates for candidates. You will, therefore, receive your certificate by email, if you complete and pass the course.
OMS is a CITB Approved Training Organisation.
CITB funding and its automated grant process is available for this course.

As part of OMS offerings we can apply for your CSCS Green Labours card for you and post this out to the bookers address, to take advantage of this service you must have completed the CITB OPS Touch Screen Test either at OMS or another Pearson VUE centre.
