The SMSTS training course helps site managers (and anyone wanting to become a site manager) to develop a better understanding of the legal, moral and social responsibilities of their role, and to manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions.
There are no formal entry requirements. Delegates must, however, have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
The SMSTS training course covers The Health & Safety at Work Act and the regulations relevant to the Construction Industry (and other workplaces), including:
Employees taking on a management role have a vital part to play in site safety. They need the right knowledge and the right attitude which demands proper training in the management techniques required in the Approved Code of Practice for the construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations as a demonstration of competence in the role of site manager.

Successful delegates receive a nationally-recognised certificate from CITB, which expires after 5 years.
Please note: From 7th December 2020, the CITB are no longer sending out hard copy certificates for candidates. You will, therefore, receive your certificate by email, if you complete and pass the course.
