The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) Operator training course is for anyone who operates scissor lifts, telescopic and articulating booms, vertical platforms, vehicle mounted platforms, and telehandlers with integrated controls.
2 Half Days (Theory & Practical)
Those who use, supervise or manage the use of powered access, including scissor lifts, self-propelled boom lifts, trailer mounted boom lifts and aerial work platforms. Those who need to use only one category of powered access equipment should attend the Single Category course and those who need to use two categories of powered access equipment should attend the Dual Category course.
To instruct an operator to prepare and safely operate various types of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) and to obtain an IPAF MEWP Operators Licence. At the end of the course the operator will:
A short, multiple choice test, as well as a practical test on the day.
Please bear in mind your experience levels when booking as inexperienced delegate(s) the practical element of this course is an assessment not a training course please ensure experience is achieved prior to attending the course. We will allow time to familiarise with our machine and also the tutor will be available to give some guidance on the operation of MEWPS. Two day courses are available upon request should you feel this to be required.
Successful candidates receive an IPAF Powered Access Licence (PAL card) to operate scissor lifts and boom lifts (IPAF categories 3a & 3b). The IPAF operator licence is valid for 5 years from the date of training.
As the assembly and use of MEWPs can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights / vertigo, giddiness / difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.
If you have any problems with literacy or language comprehension, or have any doubts about your fitness to use MEWPs, you must bring them to the attention of your employer. This need not preclude you from using MEWPs, provided your employer conducts an assessment and is able to put into place adequate measures, to take account of any difficulties you may Virtual Classroom
