Overview
In this basic half-day course, participants will have a chance to not only gain knowledge and understanding of fire and the dangers it poses, but will also gain practical experience of using firefighting equipment and handling simulated fires.
Aims and Objectives
This course is designed to give participants the confidence and knowledge they need to operate firefighting equipment safely and appropriately, as well as being able to handle small simulated fires safely.
Duration
This is up to a half-day course.
Prerequisites
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, learners are expected to have a good understanding of both spoken and written English.

This course is designed for staff at all levels of an organisation, who may be required to operate a fire extinguisher in an emergency.

The course is divided into five sections:
- The Nature and Hazards of Fire
- Understanding the Principles of Operation for Various Types of Firefighting Appliances
- Understanding the Advantages and Disadvantages of Each Type of Firefighting Appliances
- Selecting an Operating Appropriate Firefighting Appliances
- Practical Fire Extinguisher Demonstration

Learners will be given a Certificate of Attendance on successful completion of the course.
