Face Fit Testing
This course is designed for all those who require an in-depth knowledge of face fit testing. It looks at the legislation behind basic testing and the qualitative fitness test operator criteria as set out in HSE282/28. In addition, it also includes practical elements such as troubleshooting, mask maintenance and a number of practical exercises.

Outline
Our Face Fit Test Qualitative training course is aimed at those delegates who want to undertake their own face fit testing programme and who require an in-depth knowledge of Face Fit Testing. This course covers the Qualitative Fit Test Operator criteria set out in HSE282/28 but also includes many additional practical elements including troubleshooting, mask maintenance and an advanced practical session.
Duration
Half day.
Objectives
At the end of the course you will have covered and be able to carry out:
• Regulations and guidance
• The purpose and applicability of fit testing
• Procedures for selection of an adequate and suitable RPE
• Fit factors and protection factors
• Examination procedures for RPE, identification of maintenance problems
• Correct donning procedures and pre-use Fit Checks
• Qualitative Face-Fit testing
• Diagnostic checks on equipment
• Purpose of the Fit Testing exercises
Course Content
This course gives a background to Face Fit Testing covering only Qualitative Face Fit Testing (HSE 282/28 refers). The content includes:
• Set-up and running procedures
• Practical face fitting test
• Troubleshooting & problem solving
• Fit Test failures and re-tests.
Companies are reminded that this is Face Fit Testing for masks they currently use and all delegates should bring their own mask. All manufacturers are different and if it is felt that an issue mask won’t fit they should also bring alternative sizes for testing as well.
Assessment
A practical assessment on the day.
Certification
An OMS certificate of attendance will be issued upon the successful completion of the course
Prerequisites
Please note that the practical section of this course usually takes between 20 and 30 minutes per candidate. If the candidate fails they will have to be retested.
All candidates need to be clean-shaven or have a maximum of one day's stubble for the training.
You are required to bring your own mask that you are intending to use on site.
Learners are expected to have a good understanding of both spoken and written English.
