Electricity regulations apply to all work premises, and to everyone who works in them. In this short course, primarily aimed at caretakers, care workers, office staff and others who use of electrical appliances as part of their normal daily routine, we look at the hazards and dangers of electricity as well as fundamental concepts and relevant legislation.

Overview
Even for non-tradespersons, the normal working day often requires simple electrical maintenance is jobs such as bulb replacement and changing plugs. In this course, we look at the regulations, hazards and concepts behind electrical safety, and give detailed guidance into working safely and legally with electrical circuits and appliances.
Aims and Objectives
This course aims to detail the risks, concepts and legislation behind electrical safety for non-tradespersons. This course can be tailored to suit individual customer requirements and delivered at your site or place of business.

This is a one-day course.
Prerequisites
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, learners are expected to have a good understanding of both spoken and written English.

- Miniature circuit breakers
- Residual current devices
- Requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
- What is a ‘competent person’?
- Managing electrical contractors and works on site
- Live working
- Safe isolation of electrical circuits
- The meaning of the ‘defence’ (Regulation 29)
- Management of electrical systems
- Requirements for fixed wiring testing
- Requirements for Portable Appliance (PAT) testing
Course Benefits
