This course is designed for all those who require an in-depth knowledge of face fit testing. It looks at the legislation behind basic testing and the qualitative fitness test operator criteria as set out in HSE282/28. In addition, it also includes practical elements such as troubleshooting, mask maintenance and a number of practical exercises.

PUWER regulations apply to the safe use of any machinery or tools used in the workplace. These regulations require users of work equipment to carry out proper risk assessment, as well as obliging organisations to provide work equipment that is suitable for its intended task and that can be used without putting persons at risk. In this one-day course, we will provide delegates with the theoretical knowledge and practical ways they need to be able to interpret the requirements of PUWER and apply it to their own organisations.

Detecting cables and underground pipes requires a Cable Avoidance Tool and Signal Generator (or CAT and Genny), but improper use can cause disastrous, even life-threatening results. In this half-day course, we cover the legislation, safe working procedures and operating principles behind CAT and Genny use. This course is designed to increase awareness of noise risks and demonstrate the effects of noise on hearing and improve use of hearing protection. The content of the course complies with the training elements of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005.

Abrasive Wheels are used in a variety of different workplace scenarios, and when used improperly can be quite dangerous. According to The Provision and Use of Work Equipment (PUWER) 1998 act, all staff who use abrasive wheels must have proper training. This course provides an overview of legislation, as well as illustrating the potential hazards of abrasive wheels and how to avoid them.

Safe isolation of electrical equipment can be a critical part of ensuring worker safety, and in this half day course, aimed at those with basic little knowledge, we explore the tools and strategies needed to safely isolate electrical installations and equipment. The course will go on to study strategies of identifying safe point of isolation, locking off and proving dead.

One of the biggest causes of workplace accidents is back injuries, and these are often caused by poor lifting techniques. A lack of manual handling training can have a severe impact on the profitability of the organisation, especially when claims are raised by the injured party. In this course, we consider the practical considerations of manual handling work, looking both at the risk factors around manual handling, as well as basic manual handling techniques and loading limits. The course combines classroom and practical sessions.

Asbestos Awareness Outline The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations, lay down the requirements for the protection of people being exposed to asbestos. These regulations include the requirement for those with a responsibility for the maintenance and/or repair of non domestic premises, to identify and manage any risk from asbestos within their premises.

This course aims to empower both individuals in and outside of their work place, it also provides a general awareness of mental health and the types of mental illnesses associated with it.

The aim of the courses is to provide delegates with the necessary knowledge to undertake qualitative face fit testing in line with INDG479 and HSG53. INDG479 is the HSE’s Guidance on respiratory protective equipment (RPE) fit testing and the guide provides information on fit test methods, information on what can be achieved from a fit test and the core information to be included in a fit test report. All training is based on this best practise approach.
