Face Fit - Train the Tester
The aim of the courses is to provide delegates with the necessary knowledge to undertake qualitative face fit testing in line with INDG479 and HSG53. INDG479 is the HSE’s Guidance on respiratory protective equipment (RPE) fit testing and the guide provides information on fit test methods, information on what can be achieved from a fit test and the core information to be included in a fit test report. All training is based on this best practise approach.

Outline
This course once completed will enable the attendees to carry out Qualitative face fit testing for either half face disposable or reusable respirators in line with HSG 53 The Respiratory Protective Equipment At Work Guidance. The benefits to you the employer is both cost effectiveness and the convenience of being able to fit test new employees instead of waiting for an available trainer.

5 / 6 hour course
Objectives
At the end of the course you will have covered and be able to carry out:
- The hazards, risks and effects of exposure.
- What RPE is required.
- How RPE works.
- Why fit testing is required.
- How to wear and check the RPE correctly.
- What maintenance is required for re-usable respirators.
- Where and how the respirator should be cleaned and stored.
- Use and misuse of RPE
Companies are reminded that this is Face Fit Testing for masks they currently use and all delegates should bring their own mask. All manufacturers are different and if it is felt that an issue mask won’t fit they should also bring alternative sizes for testing as well.
Assessment
There will be a theory test plus practical, on passing both elements a certificate will be issued which is valid for 3 years.
Certification
An OMS certification of attendance will be issued which is valid for 3 years.
