Course Overview

Modern process-based auditing is about ensuring that systems are effective and address customer needs. An ineffective audit can have severe consequences, resulting in process failure, customer satisfaction and regulatory non-compliance. With this highly interactive two-day course, based around a very realistic case study, we will illustrate the necessary skills to assess and report on the conformance and implementation processes based on ISO 45001:2018, providing the knowledge and skills required to audit the occupational health and safety systems with confidence.

This course is designed to outline the skills and knowledge required to implement a successful audit based on ISO 45001:2018. Delegates will learn how to initiate an audit, prepare and conduct audit activities, compile and distribute audit reports and complete any follow-up activities. The course covers the complete life cycle of an internal audit, including the planning, conducting, reporting, and follow-up stages. It covers the knowledge that an effective auditor must possess, as well as the skills that are needed for a successful audit.

 

Prior Knowledge

It is advised that candidates have previously attended the ISO 45001:2018 Foundation Course (Occupational Health and Safety Systems) before attendance of the ISO 45001:2018 Internal Auditor (Occupational Health and Safety Systems) Course.

However, if the candidate has prior knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Systems, The PDCA cycle, Health and Safety Management and the Risk Assessment Process, & knowledge of ISO 45001 standards then this will be deemed acceptable. If you do not hold the Foundation Certificate then pre-course reading, provided by OMS, will be mandatory. This will be assessed by the trainer on the first day of the course.

Course content

The course covers the complete lifecycle of an internal audit including the planning, conducting, reporting and follow-up stages and works through these step-by-step. The whole course is very interactive (with formal presentations kept to a minimum) and is based on a realistic case study which allows delegates to try out and refine their auditing skills at every stage of the process. It covers the knowledge that an effective auditor must possess as well as the skills, particularly interpersonal, that are needed for a successful audit.

Assessment

Delegates will be assessed on the basis of their progress throughout the course. A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to students who successfully complete both a 30 minute written test and the continuous assessment throughout the Course.
