Course objectives
This course aims to provide students who have an existing, basic knowledge of, or experience in, OHSMS with an understanding of the management systems approach and the requirements of ISO 45001, and to provide a basis for students who wish to go on to complete further OHSMS Auditor Training courses. It is useful though for anyone, whether an auditor, auditee, consultant, implementer or manager who wishes to understand ISO 45001:2018.
Course content
The course is designed to be as interactive as possible and focuses on exercises that allow delegates to experiment with ideas and come to their own conclusions. The course starts by looking at how the Management System fits in with the ‘rest of the business. It then goes on to look at the principles and influences that have created the shape of ISO 45001 before looking at the interpretation of the various requirements.
The specific content of the course includes:
Students are expected to have the following prior basic understanding of the following before attending the course:
• The Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle
• The core elements of a management system and the interrelationship between top management responsibility, policy, objectives, planning, implementation, measurement, review, and continual improvement.
The intended outcomes of an Occupational Health and Safety Management system:
There will be a short quiz at the start to assess the level of understanding.
