First Aid At Work - Requalification

This refresher course will need to be taken no later than the expiry date of your last course taken. If this date has passed then you no longer qualified to hold the qualification and a re-qualification course may not be open to you due to timescales. Please check with your previous accrediting body. Proof of prior certification is required for this course.

Description

Overview

This course is designed to review the skills and knowledge gained in the original Emergency First Aid at Work course, allowing current holders of the First Aid at Work certificate to renew it (as required every three years).

Aims and Objectives

This course’s main aim is to prepare current holders of HSE-approved First Aid at Work certificates to renew their certification (as is required on a three-year basis).

Duration

This is a two-day workshop class.

Prerequisites

This course is only for people who already hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate and they can take this 2 day course rather than the full 3 day FAW. You must have a copy of your original certificate.

This course is designed for current holders of a HSE-approved First Aid at Work certificate who are looking to refresh their knowledge and renew their certification.

Content

The course reviews the subjects learned in the original Emergency First Aid at Work course. These include:

  • Health and safety (first aid) regulations
  • Managing an incident
  • The priorities of first aid
  • Treatment of an unconscious casualty
  • Resuscitation
  • Shock
  • Choking
  • Seizures
  • Bleeding
  • Common workplace injuries

 

Course Benefits

This course allows holders of the HSE-approved First Aid at Work certificate to gain a refreshed insight into first aid, as well as to refresh their certification.

Certification

Successful candidates receive the full HSE-approved First Aid at Work certificate, valid for three years, after completing a practical skills test.

Please note:  From 1st April 2021, Worksafe are no longer sending out hard copy certificates for candidates.  You will, therefore, receive your certificate by email, if you complete and pass the course.

When a heart attack occurs, a defibrillator can save lives. In fact, prompt and proper use by a first responder is recognised by the Resuscitation Council (UK) as the best way to increase the chances of survival.
