This course is designed to provide a sound foundation to the fundamental elements of environmental management. The course looks as environmental management systems and impact assessments, sources and use of energy and energy efficiency, control of pollution, planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies.

6 days – 5 day block + 1 day exam.

EC1 – Managing & Control of Environmental Hazards
- Foundations in environmental management
- Environmental management systems
- Environmental impact assessments
- Controls of emissions to air
- Control of contamination of water sources
- Control of waste and land use
- Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency
- Control of environmental noise
- Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies
EC2 – Environmental Practical Examination
- Practical application workplace assessment.
Pre-Requisites
Learners are expected to have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
Assessment
One written, 2 hour examination and one practical assignment.
Certification
This course is assessed by NEBOSH. Certificates are issued to all successful candidates. Successful delegates can also use the designatory letter Tech CIWEM (Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management).
NEBOSH recently entered into an exciting partnership with IEMA and students who hold the NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management are now eligible for Associate membership of IEMA. This means that they can access a wide range of membership benefits and get professional recognition with the AIEMA designatory letters. Both NEBOSH qualifications and IEMA membership are highly respected by colleagues and employers.
