The Aim of the course is to train selected personnel in the practical skills and job safety knowledge necessary for the operation of Overhead Crane and Slinging Operator Safety Syllabus to the accredited standards of ITSSAR and the ABA Workplace transport 2012.

All personnel who are responsible for attaching slinging equipment to lifting equipment. 

Content Theory

  • The need to train & statutory requirements
  • Principle components and overhead crane technology
  • Lifting gear – slinging and signalling procedures
  • Overhead crane operators safety guide
  • Films: overhead crane operating safety
  • Multi choice theoretical test 

Content Practical

  • Introduction to the overhead crane
  • Operating practice of all controls (unladen)
  • Signalling procedures
  • Routine daily inspection (fault detection and reporting)
  • Selection/Inspection and use of lifting equipment
  • Operating practice of al controls (laden)
  • Lifting/travelling and positioning various equipment and loads
  • Emergency procedures
  • Practical skill ability tests

 

Certification

Certificate of Attendance on successful completion of the course valid for 5 years.

Prerequisites

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, learners are expected to have a good understanding of both spoken and written English.
