PASMA Low Level Access

In this half-day course, personnel who work from prefabricated units under 2.5 m in height, will gain an insight into the regulations, legislation, and product standards of such units, and how to avoid hazards. The course combines a written and practical assessment.

Overview

This half-day course is designed to train up to a maximum of 12 delegates to a high level of confidence in the assembly, dismantling, alteration, movement, inspection and use of low-level access equipment with platform heights of less than 2.5m such as podium steps, following room scaffolds and wide area low-level access towers. The course outlines legal issues and legislation as well as British and European standards, and goes into detail of types of low-level access equipment and potential hazards that they may offer. The course concludes with a written and practical assessment.

Aims and Objectives

This course aims to train personnel in the professional and competent use of low-level access equipment, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruction, and how to identify and reduce the risk of personal injury to themselves or others during their work.

Duration

This is a half-day course.

Prerequisites

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, learners are expected to have a good understanding of both spoken and written English.

Candidates are expected to bring the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the course.

  • High-visibility vest/jacket
  • Hard hat
  • Safety Boots
  • Rigger Boots
  • Safety glasses/goggles

Other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be issued throughout the practical session as required. Stocks of PPE will also be available for purchase if required.

This course is designed for anyone who is regularly expected to use low-level access equipment made from prefabricated tower components during the course of their working day.

The course concludes with a written and practical assessment.

Course Benefits

This course will give delegates the confidence and competence they need to safely manage the assembly, use and disassembly of low-level access towers.

Certification

A PASMA PhotoCard and Certificate will be issued to successful delegates who complete the theory and practical sessions which have a five year validity period.
