Over 2,500 workers lost their lives to it in 2005 and according to the Health and Safety Executive it is the biggest occupational risk for those in the construction trade. Employers in the UK are legally obliged to provide training with asbestos, and this course from the UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) is designed to give workers everything they need to protect themselves and how to deal with asbestos when discovered on site.

The aim of the courses is to provide delegates with the necessary knowledge to undertake qualitative face fit testing in line with INDG479 and HSG53. INDG479 is the HSE’s Guidance on respiratory protective equipment (RPE) fit testing and the guide provides information on fit test methods, information on what can be achieved from a fit test and the core information to be included in a fit test report. All training is based on this best practise approach.

One of the biggest causes of workplace accidents is back injuries, and these are often caused by poor lifting techniques. A lack of manual handling training can have a severe impact on the profitability of the organisation, especially when claims are raised by the injured party. In this course, we consider the practical considerations of manual handling work, looking both at the risk factors around manual handling, as well as basic manual handling techniques and loading limits. The course combines classroom and practical sessions.

This course is designed to outline the legislation around the use of ladders and how to inspect, register and use ladders to protect, inspect and operate safely. In order to take this course, the Ladder Association’s Ladder User Course must have been completed and passed before attempting the Ladder Association’s Ladder Inspection Course you must hold a valid Ladder Association identity card.
